All Lives Are Precious

All Lives Are Precious (ALPS)

At ALPS, we operate under the foundational belief that every individual deserves a life defined by dignity, support, and emotional wellbeing. Established in 2014, our organisation has evolved into a vital community asset dedicated to mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We are an ambitious and inclusive grassroots charity that emerged from a direct need for accessible mental health services throughout the country. Our team is driven by a commitment to ensure that no person ever feels they have to face their darkest moments alone, and we work tirelessly to dismantle the stigma that often prevents people from seeking the help they need. This mission is only made possible because of the unwavering generosity of our supporters, whose belief in our cause allows us to provide life-saving education and intervention to tens of thousands of individuals.

Our work is comprehensive and reaches into the heart of the communities we serve through a multi-faceted approach to mental health care. We provide high-quality education and training programmes designed for schools, workplaces, and community organisations to build emotional resilience and teach life-saving intervention skills. For those in need of direct clinical support, we facilitate access to a dedicated panel of accredited psychotherapists who offer private one-on-one sessions and Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. We also recognise the profound impact of loss, which is why we provide specialised bereavement support and financial assistance to families affected by suicide, ensuring they have a compassionate network to lean on during their most difficult times. Whether you have taken part in our "Walk a Million" challenges, made a financial contribution, or helped share our message, you have played a direct role in supporting those in need.

While Downpatrick and Portglenone serve as our central hubs, we are proud to offer our services to individuals and families all across the country. We have developed targeted outreach initiatives to reach those who are often marginalised or overlooked, including bespoke youth development programmes and specialised mental health support for the Traveller Community within the prison system. We also facilitate unique partnerships with religious institutions to promote wellbeing among the clergy. Our reach spans from busy urban centres to the most remote rural towns, and we operate in diverse settings such as schools, colleges, and specialised environments like Maghaberry Prison. The strength of ALPS has always been rooted in the community, and it is the compassion of our partners and volunteers that fuels our resilience and allows us to reach further into the areas where help is most needed.

We are profoundly moved by the way so many of you have championed our efforts and helped us break the silence surrounding mental health. As we look toward the future and continue to expand our reach, we do so with a renewed sense of purpose, knowing we have such an incredible community standing behind us. Your support ensures that we can keep our services accessible to all, regardless of background or circumstances. Thank you for recognising that every life is precious and for being a vital part of the ALPS journey; we quite simply could not do this without you.
